The Linen Tour

“The future I envision is sustainable, authentic, resilient. Just like European Linen.”

Filippo Uecher

For Filippo Uecher, European Linen is not just a material but a symbol of natural, sustainable, and authentic beauty. His collections are a testament to the rich heritage and innovative potential of European Linen, ennobled with the secular deep-rooted craftsmanship and world-renowned textile expertise of our hometown in the Italian Alps, Biella.

Filippo Uecher’s European Linen tells a tale of refined Italian craftsmanship from fiber to fabric.

EUROPEAN FLAX LINEN

European Flax Linen is a beacon of sustainability and a fiber of excellence. Grown in Normandy without the need for irrigation or pesticides, it’s sown in springtime, blossoms in summer and is ready to be harvested in September. Its cultivation preserves groundwater and enhances soil fertility, with every part of the plant utilized, reflecting our commitment to zero waste and environmental stewardship.

Resilient softness

European Flax Linen is distinguished by its longer fibers, which confer greater resilience and incomparable softness. This characteristic allows the fibers to withstand the spinning process with minimal breakage, enhancing the overall durability and quality of the yarns.

FROM FIBER TO FABRIC: A TALE OF ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP

European Flax Linen is cultivated under the golden European sun in the breathtaking fields of Normandy, France. Sown in springtime, Flax Linen blossoms in summer transforming entire fields into seas of light-blue. After being harvested in September, the raw fibers begin their journey  from field to fabric in Bergamo, Italy.

Here, our partner Linificio Canapificio Nazionale – a cornerstone of Linen expertise since 1873 – selects only the most exquisite fibers and spins them into high-quality yarns, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental and social standards at every step.

The yarns are then transported to our family mills in Biella, nestled in the Italian Alps only 150 kilometers away from Bergamo, where we meticulously manufacture our fabrics with the finest craftsmanship. Our team of artisans takes care of dyeing each yarn, weaving and finishing our fabrics with the softest waters in Europe, recycling our waters with 94% water-yield annually.

The journey of European Flax Linen is a tribute to meticulous and sustainable Italian craftsmanship, from fiber to fabric.
